They cautioned against continuing the system of police informers in several Telangana districts and warned of action, if there is no change. The posters stated that the subsidies for SCs, STs, BCs and minorities were being given to relatives of politicians and officials, although they are meant for the poor. They mentioned about the nexus between educational institutions-businessmen- and politicians- who have joined hands to loot money from people in the name of education. According to the posters, action would be taken against the real estate traders of Peddamastanpalli, Khammampalli, Marpadga and Sirisinagandla villages and the persons connected with ‘poisonous’ factories and those who cooperated in the sale of horticulture gardens to the factories after purchasing them from poor farmers of the villages in Toguta mandal.

Maoist poster makes a comeback in Medak

Medak: A wall poster, ostensibly by the Maoists, created a flutter in police and political circles in Medak district on Thursday. The poster, which listed a charter of 10 demands, was pasted on the wall of the revenue divisional office in Siddipet town and was purportedly issued by the Maoist Telangana state spokesperson Jagan. Maoist posters are quite common in Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar districts. But it is for the first time in 10 years that such a poster has appeared in Medak district, which was once a hotbed of Naxalites.

Since the bifurcation, Maoists have stepped up their activities in Khammam as well as Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam districts. The demands in the poster include free transport of silt from lakes to agricultural fields under the ongoing Mission Kakatiya programme, payment of pension to all beedi workers irrespective of the provident fund facility, and transparency in the distribution of land to STs, SCs and BCs in the state.trace the attackers, Singh said.

CPI-Maoist Trying to Establish a Channel in Nagaland

Minister of State for Home Affairs, Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary on Wednesday said left wing extremist (LWE) outfit CPI (Maoist) is trying to establish a separate channel in Nagaland primarily to source weapons. The outfit has also developed close fraternal ties with other North-East insurgent groups like the Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) / People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of Manipur. Both the outfits have agreed upon mutual cooperation in the areas of training, funding, supply of arms and ammunition.

Disclosing this at the Rajya Sabha, Chaudhary also pointed out that the CPI (Maoist) was trying to establish organizational bases in the North East with a view to forge relations with other insurgent groups to meet its military requirements. He said the Upper Assam Leading Committee (UALC) of the CPI (Maoist) is presently operating in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and have been involved in incidents of looting of weapons and extortion from local villagers.

The UALC has also been engaged in recruitment and training of cadres for the outfit in Assam. These cadres have been utilized in extensive propaganda against mega dams in Assam. In this backdrop, Assam-Arunachal border has emerged as another theatre of Maoist activity. Likewise, the CPI (Maoist) is also making efforts to strengthen its influence in South India, particularly on the tri-junction of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. Their plans include creating a base on the border of Kerala and Karnataka, Chaudhary stated.

The statement from the Minister of State comes in the backdrop of media and intelligence reports of the CPI (Maoist) making inroads to the North East. According to a report of the Institute for Defence Studies and Analysis (IDSA) in 2012, some arrested Maoists had disclosed that the CPI-Maoist has been trying to establish contact with arms traffickers in Dimapur, Nagaland, for Chinese- and European-made arms. A DNA report in 2014 suggested that the Maoists have been trying to get active in the northeast, especially among the tea tribes Adivasis whose stock comes from the tribal population of contiguous regions of Jharkhand, Bihar and Chhattisgarh.

Naxal pamphlets, banner, found at Kellar in Sringeri taluk

Chikkamagaluru, Apr 30: Naxal banner and pamphlets suddenly surfaced near Kellar in Sringeri taluk of the district on Wednesday April 29. A banner was found to have been tied near Kellar auto stand on the road leading to Kigga from Sringeri, and pamphlets were found strewn around the place. The policemen rushed to the spot immediately after gathering information about naxal literature, and collected these items. The banner calls upon people of the area to stoutly oppose the plan to create reserve in Kudremukh forest and implementation of Kasturirangan report.

It has also called upon villagers to boycott gram panchayat election. Other than this banner and literature, the taluk has not witnessed any naxal activity in the recent past. Some have expressed the suspicion that the banner and pamphlets would have been created to spread a sense of confusion and fear among the villagers. Sringeri poilce, who have registered a case, are investigating the matter. It may be recalled that similar pamphlets and banner had been found at Tekkur Circle in the taluk sometime back, but during combing by Anti Naxal Force, no naxal activity was found.

Maoist posters appear in Siddipet

Posters warning people against setting of polluting industries have appeared in the name of CPI (ML) Spokesperson Jagan at Siddipet, the constituency headquarters, being represented by Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao. The posters were pasted near the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO), one of the main centres at Siddipet late on Wednesday night. “The real estate brokers are buying lands at Marpadaga, Sirsinagandla, Khmammampally and Peddamasanpally from poor farmers and then selling them to the industries.

Those who are cooperating to establish industry that pollutes the area would not be spared,” Jagan warned in the poster. He has also demanded the Government withdrawal of the police informer system in the State. Transporting silt removed from tanks to the fields of farmers at free of cost, providing Jeevana Bhruthi (sustenance allowance) to all the beedi workers, payment of Rs.20 lakh ex-gratia to the families of farmers who had committed suicide, waiving of all the loans for farmers and sanctioning new loans, completing the land distribution for the SCs immediately and extending this programme for minorities and others were some of the issues also mentioned in the two-page poster.
